FAA requirements for a Flight Instructor Certificate:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate or ATP Certificate
- Must hold a valid FAA 3rd Class Medical Certificate
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
- Pass the FAA Knowledge Test
- Pass the FAA Practical Flight Test and Oral Examinatio
CFI Certification Course
Our Certified Flight Instructor Course (CFI) is available in 3 plans to suit your needs. Plan "A" utilizes a C-152 & Piper Arrow for $5,355. Plan "B" utilizes a C-172 & Piper Arrow for $5,795. And Plan "C" is done soley with complex aircraft using our Piper Arrow. All plans incorporate training in complex aircraft. The training for Plans "A" & "B" consists of:
- 20 hours of non-complex aircraft training
- 5 hours of complex aircraft training
- 10 hours of ground training
- 8 hours of pre-post flight briefing
If you choose to do all your training in complex aircraft (recommended), then
your cost will be $6,695 (Plan "C"). On average, students complete their
training within the minimum time.
CFI-I Certification CourseOur Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Rating Course (CFI-I) is
approximately $3,660, and consists of:
- 15 hours of Dual flight training
- 10 hours of ground training
- 6 hours pre-post flight briefing
On average, students complete their training within 15-20 hours.
CFI-ME Certification Course
Our Certified Flight Instructor Multi-Engine Rating Course (CFI-ME) is
approximately $3,030, and consists of:
- 8 hours of Dual flight training
- 5 hours of ground training
- 5 hours pre-post flight briefing
On average, students complete their training within 8-12 hours.
Flight Instructor Certification Renewal CourseSince your Flight Instructor Certificate expires every 2 years, you will have to renew your certificate prior to the expiration date, otherwise you will have to re-take your CFI check-ride again. So do not let it expire!
We now offer a FAA approved Part 141 CFI Renewal Course. There is no set date or schedule that you have to attend, nor group ground school. We offer this course 7 days a week. Just pick a convenient date and time to complete your CFI Certificate Renewal before it expires. You can start and complete this course 90 days prior to your certificate's expiration date.
We will issue a graduation certificate that you can bring to the FAA FSDO located in your area for renewal of your certificate.
Our Flight Instructor Certification Renewal Course is approximately $180, and consists of:
- 16 hours minimum of ground training
Training costs will vary depending on your study habits, frequency of attendance, individual motor skills and the type of aircraft which will be used for your training. On average, students complete their training within 35-45 hours.
