تفاصيل الحادث

[حـادث] انفجار إطارات 777 إماراتية عند هبوطها في المالديف

The captain (no data released yet) was pilot flying and the first officer pilot was monitoring when the aircraft approached Male. Descending through 6000 feet the crew was informed the runway was wet and there was tailwind of up to 8 knots at the time for landings on runway 36. Just prior to touchdown the wind was reported at 5 knots from 210 degrees. Autobrakes were set to 4.

The aircraft touched down in the touch down zone, the crew described the touch down as normal. Full reverse was selected, the braking action however was less than expected for setting 4, the roll out otherwise was described as normal, too.

Slowing through 90 knots the first officer called "EICAS Autobrakes", in reaction the captain initiated manual braking, 2 seconds later the first officer called "EICAS Anti-Skid" and "Auto Speed Brake". The captain slowed the aircraft manually down to taxi speed.

The captain subsequently initiated a turn by 180 degrees to backtrack the runway to the apron. Half way through the turn the crew felt the aircraft was skidding. After completing the turn the crew saw tyre debris on the runway and stopped the aircraft.

The crew of another departing aircraft at the holding point reported they saw tyre debris at the beginning of runway 36.

Ground personnel approached the Boeing 777 and reported tyres #1 and #2 had separated from the wheel hubs as well as other damage to the left main gear. The aircraft could not move on its own power and was shut down, passengers and crew disembarked onto the runway and were taken to the terminal.

Male Airport was closed until the damaged parts were replaced and the aircraft could be moved off the runway.

In addition to tyres #1 and #2 separating from the wheel hubs tyre #5 was found damaged, both forward and aft junction boxes were missing. All missing parts were recovered from the runway.

The runway received multiple grooves as result of wheel hubs contacting the runway surface.

According to the QAR data recorded by the aircraft the winds were at 3 knots from 140 degrees descending through 1000 feet AGL and 11 knots from 195 degrees at touch down.
